One Fine Day - This song is off of Conspiracy of One. This is my favorite Offspring song of all time and the one that I think defines the Delinquents. This takes place while the gang is still strong and they all enjoy each other's company. It's from Boost's point of view though. Lots of cussing which they would be doing. It's very violent. I see the game in term of cars as being a demolition derby. They don't care who wins. They're there to act like jerks, drink, get into fights and cause trouble. That's the good life for a Delinquent. "When you break it then you know you're still alive. If the cops don't make you pay and you make your get away then you know it's a one find day." This part is so perfect for them as is, "I belive it's my God given right to destroy everything in my sight, 'cause it never gets droll, it never gets old. Drinking, fighting, going to the game, in our world it's a way to stay sane. If you're asking me to have it my way, I'd say that's a one fine day....when you break it then you know you're still alive." That's Boost's mentality all the way.
The Noose - This song is off of Splinter. It's so dark and power. I love this piece. This is seen from Wingo's and Boost's point of view just before and during the fight. It starts from Wingo's point of view when Boost's secrets are exposed. He breaks up the gang and they learn just how dangerous Boost is. Wingo's world is shattered. He thought being in the Delinquents was set for life and his friends would never betray him the way he'd never betray them. He was wrong about Boost and he just couldn't handle it. Suddenly those he thought were his friends are now his enemy. "Well the tracers from yesteryear are burning in the dust. Your bruises are reminders of naivete and trust." I love this verse because you see Wingo's world falling apart literally and physically as there are fires burning around him in this fight as he's the last one left to face Boost alone. Of course he can't. He stands no chance on a one on one with him. "Now I lay you down, put the coins in your eyes and blow the candles out." This would be Boost talking. If the police had not arrived I KNOW he would have killed Wingo. He was that enraged. At this point it really looks as though everything is over.
Walla Walla - Off of Americana. This song is meant to be funny when taken alone, but it did inspire me quite a bit especially during the whole court scene at the end. The part about "You didn't get far because under your arm was a VCR." makes me think of Wingo getting busted since he was weighed down and holding all the goods they'd stolen from the museum. In the last chapter when they're in Doc's court house DJ and Wingo apologize to everyone in town for what they did and are truely sorry. They are sincere apologies. But Boost is not sorry and flat out lies not even try to make his lies sound believable. He's not worried when he hears the other two sentenced to more community service. But it's not that way for him. Many of the lyrics found their way into my story actually though they were slightly changed. "Slap on the wrist? No not this time." Boost actually said he thought he was going to get another 'slap on the hood' and get off easy like before. "You got three to five and a kick out the door." I used this in the story. Doc passed sentence on Boost sending him to jail for three to five years then kicked him out of the court room.
No Breaks - Off of Americana. You don't see this part in the story but it's understood from the last part that happens to Boost as he meets his inmates. He's thrown into a hole and left there to rot. He's furious, he's scared, but he's not sorry. "Someone said it's alright. Save it now don't say it for my sake! Someone said it's alright. Faster now you know I've got no breaks." I see this part as some priest or shrinking coming to see Boost in his cell and trying to reform him and change his ways. But he's too full of anger and hate and doesn't want to hear it. "Save it now don't say it for my sake." Boost is a realist. He knows how bad the situation is he's gotten into and he doesn't want to hear anyone telling him it's ok or things will get better. Screw that, just wait til I get out of here is his mentality. "Miles below, I look up again. When you snap they say before you never show it."
Long Way Home - Off of Splinter. Technically No Breaks is the last song from this story. Long Way Home works for the possible sequel I may write or the non existant epilog. At this moment I'm not really sure but this song fits perfect for when Boost DOES get out of jail. He hasn't been treated well in prison. He's a little humbled, but he hasn't forgotten his goal to get revenge. But he can't. He's literally got nothing upon getting out. He needs to find his way in this new life he's just gotten. "This search is not a waste of time. On and on the road keeps burning." Some would think still wanting revenge after all that time is a waste of it, but not Boost. It's what keeps him going.
