The Mysterious Cities of Gold

These are drawings I did for another unfinished story based on the 80s Nickelodeon (back when Nick was good) cartoon. This show had everything and I do believe was great brain food. It took place during one of my favorite periods of time, the 16th century and the conquistador age when the Spanish came to the new world. But not only that, the cultures that they found in the cities of gold had advanced technology like solar ships and a flying golden condor that was as large as a modern plane. My favorite character was Commander Gomez one of the villians. In my story he had a younger sister named Destina Gomez that he cared about deeply. She had an adventurous spirit and convinced him to take her with him to the new world. Since I never finished this I later ended up changing her sweet personality to a more aggressive one and placed her in with the Kroenen series.

Destina Gomez - She's one of my original creations that I really love. This is the first drawing I ever made of her and I really like it. It was challenging learning this style at first but I think she turned out pretty. One draw back about Cities of Gold style is that all pupils are black with no white, even though I describe her as having bright green eyes.

Destina & Gomez - Here she is with her big brother. He's just bougth her her first suit of armor to protect her on her trip to the new world. She's very happy for the lovely gift.

Destina & Gomez - Same pic as above only I gave it a white wash and a grainy effect to make it look old like the tapes of that I have. If you didn't know better this could pass as a screen capture from a lost episode.

Gomez - A picture of the commander doing what he does best, getting pissed off at everyone's incompetence.

Gomez - This is the first time I drew him. Not bad but I hadn't quite gotten him down. He's a very large built man and I made his neck and possibly his face too skinny. Other than that it's good for a first attempt.
