DS9 Kids

I'm a fairly new Star Trek fan and Deep Space 9 is my favorite series. My favorite character is Odo because I can relate to him on way too many levels. One of my talents is taking existing characters and making them into kids. I've done this with several other things and it wasn't long before DS9 fell prey to my reverse aging process. I like to have the kid versions of the characters not know how to use their abilites or not yet developed the personalities we see on the shows. That comes later through their experiences. I started off by making drawings of all the characters that I would use to go by. Standards if you will. I only made one two page comic. It wasn't that I lost my drive on this one like so many other project, I just couldn't come up with any ideas. This comic has no name. It's just something that happens to Odo when he's invited to a soccer game by the other kids.

Dax & Quark - I love the way Dax turned out! I love blue and her bright blue eyes are just so pretty in this drawing. Her dots and her pink lips really set everything appart from the blues. Quark has nice shadowing on him which makes up for his lack of detail.

Odo & Kira - I like how bright Odo's green eyes are. It's nice to have that since the rest of him is all earthtones. It was fun giving him light shading on his hair. He looks cute. Kira was fun to draw because she has HUGE eyes to begin with. She too was fun to shade.

Sisko & Cheif O'Brian - Oh man! This is a funny drawing. The first thing you notice is that O'Brian isn't drawn in the same art style as everyone else. That's because I couldn't draw him at all. I drew and drew and he kept turning out so ugly (uglier than he normally is.). So I got so mad I just exaggerated his features, e.g. beady eyes, and drew him Charlie Brown style. I think it works and he's a funny contrast to everyone else. Since I was so mad it came through and you see the cheif pissed and smashing some type of electrical equipment in his hand. I was very happy with how Sisko came out. He just was so easy after the trouble O'Brian gave me.

Dr. Bashir - Bashir is another character I almost gave up on. He too was extremely hard to draw. He kept coming out so ugly. I just couldn't see him in my mind. I don't know how I did it but I FINALLY managed to make him look nice. This is the only time I've drawn him and hopefully the last. I'm not much into brown eyes but I think his turned out bright and nice.

Gul Dukat - Dukat was fun and easy to draw. Like Odo the green eyes set off nicely with all his greys. I never put him into a story but if I had he would have been a nice kid that was picked on and bullied and that's why he became so nasty as an adult.
